ERCIM News: Digital Preservation

The latest issue of ERCIM News, January 2010 is dedicated to digital preservation, coordinated by Ingeborg Solvberg, Norwegian University of Science and Technology; and Andreas Rauber, Vienna Technical University, a member of DL.org's Working Group on DL Functionality Interoperability.

The Special Theme includes a keynote from Pat Manson, Head of Unit "Cultural Heritage & Technology Enhanced Learning"; European Commission, Information Society and Media Directorate-General.

Articles cover the drivers for digital preservation, a set of EU initiatives dedicated to the theme, as well as efforts towards an international system for audit and certification of the trustability of Digital Repositories and the OAIS implementation.

Contributions come from several European projects supporting DL.org's Working Groups, such as CASPAR, Planets and SHAMAN. ERCIM News n. 80 can be downloaded here.
